Cliff's five-year share: $28,323

Five years ago, we launched our first profit shares campaign featuring real Vision Credit Union members like Cliff talking about their share of the profits. Since then, Vision has returned $62.8 million in profit shares – about 75 percent of the institution's profits – to members. That’s a big cash infusion for our members and for rural Alberta communities. Cliff's share has totalled $28,323. The numbers really add up. Fortunately for Cliff, the years don’t seem to – he hasn’t changed a bit. Apparently, working in the cattle auction business will do that for a guy. Or maybe it’s the profit shares.

Tragedy is a powerful catalyst for change. Western Canada’s Shock Trauma Air Rescue Service (STARS) knows this all too well, as their origin story is a sombre one. In the 1980s, the founders of STARS were moved to action after a pregnant woman in a rural community died of blood loss during childbirth. They believed this was a preventable loss – that no one should go without critical care, no matter where they live. And that's exactly why the local fundraising group, the Camrose Friends of STARS, was born to help keep STARS in the sky throughout rural Alberta.
