Banking services

for rural Albertans.

On August 1, Vision Credit Union will merge with the Pincher Creek Credit Union. We’ll be new to the area, but we like to think we’ll fit right in. We have branches in 16 rural communities across Alberta and we’re proud to serve the places where we live and work. We couldn’t be prouder to serve the community of Pincher Creek.

Over the coming weeks, we’ll be sending you information updates about the merger and you’ll be seeing some new posters and signs at your branch. You might even see some new faces at the branch. Rest assured; the friendly, capable Pincher Creek Credit Union team you’ve come to know will continue to serve you at the branch after our credit unions come together.

Banking services
by rural Albertans,
for rural Albertans.

This credit union story began more than 70 years ago with a group of rural Albertans and an idea for a better future. These folks had seen first-hand the power of cooperative spirit through the Depression, droughts and world wars. Now they wanted to harness it for prosperity. They pitched in their own hard-earned funds and came up with a plan: for neighbours lending to neighbours, for fair interest rates and for good character as collateral. A credit union was born.

This is Pincher Creek Credit Union’s story. It’s Vision Credit Union’s story too. For three generations our financial institutions have offered banking services for rural Albertans, by rural Albertans. Today, as we explore the merging of our institutions, we do so with a commitment to serving rural Alberta and with a belief in the power of working together.

A rural Alberta CEO.

Meet Steve, CEO of Vision Credit Union

Steve, his wife Jaclyn and and their family operate a ranch near Viking, Alberta. Steve has lived on farms and ranches in Alberta all of his life. Those ties are important to him and they're ingrained in the way Vision operates.

Steve is proud of Vision’s rural roots and its track record of helping members. Serving members is job one for Vision and for Steve. That’s why he's so committed to Vision’s profit sharing program.

Over the past 10 years, Vision has returned 25% of the interest paid by members, depositing it into members profit shares accounts.

LEARN ABOUT VISION PROFIT SHARES

We've never looked back,
Vision has been like a partner to us.

Meet Eldon

Last year, Eldon received a $7000 profit shares cash payout from Vision Credit Union. It’s one of about 15 returns Vision has sent him over his years as a credit union member. The profit shares are a nice perk, he says, but they’re not the part he really values about banking with Vision. It's the personal approach Vision Credit Union took with his business in a time of need.

Learn about how Vision helped Eldon weather the 2003 BSE crisis when the big banks wouldn't.

In the 1950s, when the town of Vegreville’s population was less than 3,000, life for students who needed extra support wasn’t always easy. Many went without a proper education. But that all changed in the spring of 1959 when a handful of parents met to plan for a better future for their children with disabilities. Flash forward to today and the parent's once-small school has transformed into the Vegreville Association for Living in Dignity.

A Shock Trauma Air Rescue Service (STARS) helicopter in Camrose, Alberta.
    01 Mar, 2024
Tragedy is a powerful catalyst for change. Western Canada’s Shock Trauma Air Rescue Service (STARS) knows this all too well, as their origin story is a sombre one. In the 1980s, the founders of STARS were moved to action after a pregnant woman in a rural community died of blood loss during childbirth. They believed this was a preventable loss – that no one should go without critical care, no matter where they live. And that's exactly why the local fundraising group, the Camrose Friends of STARS, was born to help keep STARS in the sky throughout rural Alberta.
